EGRET

6"x8" Egret  oil painting on copper.
I have been painting on copper for some time off and on. I love the feel of it. You have to put a  light coat of  underpainting  MG white (oil) but  the  glow of copper still comes thru. I was inspired to paint this after the rains that fill the grassy low lands here. Something so beautiful about a pristine white egret against the backdrop of greens, water and earth. SOLD!!

Beautiful Gardens

This last weekend I was privileged to attend to the Murrieta Home and Garden Show. Gorgeous gardens and lovely homes.
My girl friends are from high school and we meet once a year,from many different places, attend the show and get inspired by the beauty of the gardens and each other!

I was excited to see the lily ponds and took many pictures of those because not only do I love them but I love to paint them too! Talk about inspiration! Oh and the beautiful roses!

I just loved the potting shed at one of the homes and just had to share all of this with you!!

BIRD and ROSE Tote Bag

17"x21" Original design. Rose oil painting applied to vintage quilted rose fabric with vintage satin ribbon. Original painted bird on canvas, cut out and applied. This bag is completely lined in soft yellow cotton. Matching handles with a 9" drop. A little pouch comes with. This bag was a special joy to make! I love the quilted fabric and the colors. ABSTRACT LILY POND

Oh how I love to paint abstracts. So freeing. This is one I had done some time ago and got it out to look at it this morning.I loved it and kept it. Tomorrow I will start a new very large one and I can hardly wait! I'm excited! I have a couple of beautiful new colors to play with too which will make it extra fun!

PUMPKIN

I'm back to painting still life from life. Putting a set up together , placing a light next to it and painting the subject. I started with something simple. I wanted to paint light and shadow as a sort of practice piece.I got this little pumpkin at the farm stand and I loved the shape and color. It was fun, I felt a bit rusty but I'm happy with the result.  Tomorrow another challenge!!

KING CROW

We have many , many vineyards here in Cambria and Paso Robles, there may be hundreds. Going around to take photographs and make sketches the vistas are just seemingly endless. They are just beautiful and change color all year and then  cut back to start again. We have several beautiful wineries and wine tastings and of course our big festival coming up in January!!!

SeaGull

Lots and lots of sea gulls here along the shore. This is the sea bird that everyone knows. I have always loved them, they are smart,clever and resourceful.

The EGRET

We have so many Egrets here and especially right after the rain. The streams and open fields fill with water and all of a sudden there they are! So beautiful with their glorious white feathers and beautiful white wings. Come on rain!!

CROWS with HEARTS

6"x4"  hand built earthenware clay. I've been painting these heartfelt crows with hearts for some time and it just occurred to me to make them in clay! This was fun, having these little crows come to life, so to speak!

A Day at Derbyshire Farm

Yesterday morning Gayle and I drove out to meet Pam Derby at her beautiful ranch in San Simeon.Truly a day in the country. Her ranch is nestled in the hills just minutes from the central coast. In that beautiful warm and balmy setting sits Derby shire Farm.Row after row of plump succulent black berry vines growing in the gentle sunshine.
We met Pam and her wonderful friends for a truly amazing day of laughter, getting to know one another and picking the sweet juicy berry's. Pam provided the baskets for us and even gloves!
Her ranch also has avocado's and she provided bags for us to take as many as we would like!
Up on the hills for a drive to visit the vineyard. Beautiful big green leafy vines with rows as far as the eye can see almost reaching to the coast! Spectacular views of Hearst Ranch in the back ground and if you sit quietly you may encounter a zebra and family just roaming through.
Everywhere one looks is a painting! I especially loved the out buildings and the old Hearst barn. Delightful!
Another treat  from Pam was lunch at the Hamlet just out side of Cambria and if you have never been the view of the ocean is stunning.
We ended our very special day at Gayles, Chambers Gallery so everyone could enjoy Gayles wonderful artists work.

White Rooster

I love lily ponds. I haven't painted one for quite a while. This is one that I painted a while back but re painted the back ground yesterday. I had concentrated so much on the lily I really hadn't spent time anywhere else! So this was fun. I do love to go back into a painting and re- work and play a bit. Never know what will happen!!
