WORK SHOP in SAN LUIS!!

24x30 oil on canvas. I'm going to be teaching this painting in a workshop at ART CENTRAL in San Luis Obispo!! This is a 2 day class using oil paint. The 25th and 26th of October. I will teach a measuring technique to draw and we will use a limited palette. 6"x6" oil painting on board. I'm still playing with ideas. When I get in a bind I go back to still life. This was fun. I'm still in a block, trying to paint my way out. Painted a couple of crows too. Post soon.

Summer Straw

I've been experimenting! I found some Cray-Pas in a drawer that I had long forgotten about. Cray-Pas are oil painting sticks. I thought it would be fun to use them both, brush and painting stick in a painting and it was! I've been wanting to paint some faces in a loose style and as fun as this was it takes me back to my doll painting days....I'm going to work on this!!!!

Pique Assiette

A change of pace. Working on my hearts and crosses in the studio for the Chambers Gallery in Cambria. These are tiny, 2" to 4" . A couple more and they are ready to grout! Fun to make, on my clay base.

My o my! Holly Hocks are in bloom and I just had to post them!! I planted them from seeds I gathered in a friends garden and I am so excited to see them come up! There are some peachy colored ones I'm hoping to see soon and a sort of soft yellow. These are tall and just beautiful!

SEA SCAPE on COPPER

4"x4" oil painting on copper. I've painted a sea scape on the copper with vertigres and in this case I've added a heart rock. Many years of beach combing in Cambria has enabled me to collect oodles of these beautifully shaped rocks. Including them in these new pieces I'm doing adds fun to the design!! The finished paintings will be nailed to the wood at each corner.

WINTER

30"x40" oil on canvas. Something different, hard for me not to paint on orange and color! I wanted to keep it simple. Not too stark, added some browns and blues with oil crayons. Very fun to paint!!

LAND SCAPE on BRASS

6"x6" oil painting on brass with verdigris. I'm experimenting on different metals. I like the brass for the gold color that appears in the painting. After the verdigris very little of the brass shown through. There are peeks of it here and there. The subject matter is loose and almost abstract.

LAND SCAPE on COPPER

6"x6" oil painting on copper. I've been experimenting with copper again. Many years ago I painted on it and just loved the feel. This time I vertigried it first. I got a wonderful patina, a beautiful green. So this was a different experience painting over the vertigres.Let alot of the blue green show through and the copper. Painting on brass too, get a whole different look with the brass! These little paintings will be mounted on old wood. This piece of wood is from a building burned in a fire. 0il on canvas 16"x20". This painting is for the workshop in Washington in September. I painted the still life I did for the smalls in a larger format. Painting it larger was fun! Love to paint still life!!

Small Paintings

New smalls, 4"x4" oil on canvas. Just packed these up and sent off to the Chambers Gallery! They have little easels to stand on, sweet! That's it for a while, working on some new ideas with metals, very fun!! will post here when done.

4"x4" oil on canvas. These paintings are such fun, really challenging! The other smalls are sold. The Wine Festival was a huge success and very hustly bustly in the Chambers gallery. Friends and family along with cheery customers! Another visit, back in April to do a work shop! I'm looking so forward to going back to Cambria!

Well, I'm having fun with a new idea, for me anyway. These little mini's are just so fun! 4"x4" little wrapped cotton canvases. I have a stack to paint, lots of ideas and sketches. It's raining,perfect day to paint. First a cup of soup and back to work!

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Going through my box of Christmas ornaments this morning,everyone a keepsake. The lovely old ones of my grandmother and my mother. Some what bitter sweet but wonderful memories of past Christmases with family. The special Christmas cookies my mom made every year. Decorating cookies with my children. The little ones wide eyed with wonder and excitement! Christmas is coming!! I hope you have the most wonderful Christmas EVER!!XO!

IN THE VINEYARD

20"x30" oil on canvas. In January many of you know, comes the Cambria Wine Festival. A big celebration of the vineyards and everyone participates. The shops offer munchies and many pour wine. This year as in many years past I will be demonstating painting at the Chambers Gallery. Always such a good time. Pam Derby of Derby Wine Estates will be pouring as she has in past events. Wine food and laughter and oh yes, Art!! Wonderful art in the gallery from local artisans who produce glass and pottery to paintings. This painting will go up with me and maybe a couple more! I hope I see you there, you'll love it! January 25th, 26th and 27th!
